We are now looking for a Technical Advisor to join our Machinery Safety team. You will be responsible for advising clients on the most effective methods of achieving machinery compliance when placing machinery onto a market or putting machinery into use. You will set the highest example of professionalism with the highest standards of client liaison, professionalism and with a polite and confidential approach.
This is a field-based role that will involve working away from home to deliver services directly on customer sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide fee earning machinery services and maintain the targeted utilisation.
2. Perform regulatory compliance assessments of low – medium Hazard machinery against the requirements of PUWER, CE/UKCA and where applicable, LOLER.
3. Ensure technical reports are written to a high standard and delivered in good time so that invoicing and operational planning is not impacted.
4. Submit expenses weekly to ensure timely re-imbursement and cost allocation to projects.
5. Complete all activities safely and conducted to work risk assessments.
6. Instigate own stop work authority if any safety issues are discovered on site and report the findings to the project co-ordinator and site contact, only resuming work when safety is assured.
7. Travel nationally and internationally to perform machinery services to fee paying clients.
8. Drive own utilisation by engagement with the Operations Manager and the Project Co-Ordinator.
Essential Criteria:
1. Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) or mechanical/electrical experience.
2. Excellent knowledge of PUWER and LOLER regulatory requirements.
3. Demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of UKCA / CE marking requirements of Machinery.
4. Experience in testing and inspection of mechanical equipment.
5. Computer literate (Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio).
6. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate verbally and written.
7. Experience in accurate technical writing.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Professionally Registered - Engineering Technician (Eng Tech).
2. Member of relevant engineering body (e.g. SOE, IMechE).
