Curriculum Leader of Humanities
A vacancy has arisen for a Geography teacher to help shape the strategic direction of the Humanities department as Curriculum Leader for Humanities.
Successful Candidates will be:
1. A strong classroom practitioner with the ability to teach Geography to Key Stage 4.
2. Currently teaching (or able to teach) groups that contribute to Key Stage 4 outcomes in Geography.
3. Able to manage student behaviour in and beyond the classroom.
4. Able to understand that the role will entail duties at break and leadership for the faculty area.
5. Support and develop the CL’s for Geography and History.
6. An integral part of the middle management structure of the Academy.
7. An effective line manager.
8. Flexible and willing to take on responsibilities necessary for the effective running of the Academy as required by the leadership team.
Specific Responsibility - Teaching and Learning
* Responsibility for the implementation of the curriculum strategy.
* Ensure high-quality, expert teaching across Humanities; Geography, History, and Religious Studies, building on an evidence-informed understanding of effective teaching and how students learn.
Adopt a pro-active approach to identifying professional development needs across the Academy.
Prioritise the professional development of humanities staff, ensuring effective planning, delivery, and evaluation which is consistent with the approaches laid out in the standard for teachers’ professional development.
* Work in accordance with the ethos and values of the Trust, collaborating effectively with colleagues from across the Trust.
* Support the Assistant and Vice Principal in charge of Quality of Education with Intent, Implementation, and Impact of the curriculum in Humanities.
* Support the Assistant and Vice Principal in charge of Quality of Education to provide effective quality assurance.
* Any additional requests as directed by the Chief Executive, Principal, or designated line manager.
