Position Summary: This position is in a fast-paced FDA regulated manufacturing environment in the Medical Devices Industry. This role will perform calibrations, act as a calibration SME, and provide backup for the Group Lead as needed. This role required interdepartmental collaboration to ensure timely and effective calibration execution without impact to the Production schedule. Responsibilities: Serve as the backup for the Calibration Group Lead during periods of absence to provide continued customer support for any calibration/BM RAM assistance. Use the CCMS (BM RAM) paperless calibration program to record calibration data. Submit Asset Change Request (AFC) to improve the overall use of the CCMS and the information provided in asset records. Submit Induction Request (IIR) for new assets. Provide SME technical expertise and guidance to others throughout the facility interacting with employees at all levels within the facility. Maintains the monthly calibration schedule. Schedule Contractor/Vendor visits. Review upcoming work to inform Asset Owners of instruments in their possession with upcoming calibrations. Contribute to the control of calibrations costs continually improving efficiencies and identifying opportunities for cost reductions. Troubleshoot calibration failures and make recommendations for any instrumentation improvements. Develop calibration methods and generate and modify calibration procedures for existing and new calibrated instrumentation for the purpose of clarity and correct execution for all team members while performing calibrations. Contribute at the project team level for calibration activities and participate in instrument and calibration specification development. Provide input and participate in team meetings Develop and provide technical job aids and training presentations for calibration related activities. Initiate and/or improve program level processes. Train other Calibration Technicians in all aspects of the bioMerieux Calibration Program Review of Calibration Work for closure as assigned. Supplemental Information: Sr. Calibration Technicians are responsible for making decision related to calibration of equipment at the Durham site. With the collaboration of supervision, manufacturing, and quality, some decisions may be made requiring equipment to be taken out of service thus impacting production Studies and Experience: High school diploma and 10 years of calibration-specific experience in a regulated industry OR Associate Degree and 7 years of calibration-specific experience in a regulated industry OR Batchelor Degree and 5 years of calibration-specific experience in a regulated industry Skills and Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of industry standards with regard to calibration in a regulated environment. A demonstrated attention to detail and experience with good documentation practices. Strong organizational and planning skills, in addition to technical knowledge is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer skills – Microsoft Office (Word/Excel). Experience with CCMS’ (Blue Mountain RAM) desired. Physical Requirements: Ability to remain in stationary position, often standing, for prolonged periods. Ability to ascend/descend stairs, ladders, ramps, and the like. Ability to wear PPE correctly most of the day. Ability to operate heavy machinery. Ability to adjust or move objects up to 50 pounds in all directions. Ability to climb stairs to perform work on the mezzanine. Ability to work 12 hour shifts on assigned schedule. Ability to work overtime (including weekend / holiday work) as required
