Company:
Qualcomm Technologies International Ltd
Job Area:
Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Systems Engineering
General Summary:
Over the past 35 years, Qualcomm has been leading the mobile innovation, transforming how the world connects, computes and communicates. The Standards team in Qualcomm has been at the forefront of driving innovations and shaping the ecosystem from CDMA to 3G UMTS, 4G LTE, LTE Advanced, and now 5G, 6G and machine learning (ML) applications to wireless communications. The candidate will focus on spectrum engineering studies, aiming at identifying new spectrum opportunities for the advance of 5G and 6G cellular systems and designing systems to operate in this new spectrum. The candidate will develop systems level studies, including analysis of coexistence across different radio access technologies in the same spectrum and system level analysis of 5G/6G systems within this spectrum.
Role Overview and Responsibilities:
* Analysis of wireless systems operating in new frequency spectrum under study for deployment of the next generation cellular system (i.e. 6G).
* Develop system level studies to assess the compatibility between the next generation cellular system and incumbent systems.
* Develop and analyze coexistence techniques for co-channel operation across different radio access technologies.
* Develop system and link level studies to assess the performance of radio access technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
• Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
• PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
Expertise and technical skills:
* Advanced programming skills in MATLAB/Python are required; skill in other languages (C/C+) is a plus.
* Organizational, communication and editorial skills in English are required.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work well in a team environment with a focus on knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Your Background and Theoretical Knowledge:
* Solid knowledge of radio communication theory and digital signal processing.
* Basic knowledge of information theory, coding theory, adaptive filtering, signal detection and estimation, optimization theory, machine learning, deep learning theory, networked and mobile computing environments, and their applications to Wireless Communications.
* Familiarity with design, analysis and simulation of PHY and/or MAC layers, Radio Access Network and/or Core Network design, interference and mobility management in Radio Access Networks, with focus on 3GPP and IEEE radio access standards.
*References to a particular number of years experience are for indicative purposes only. Applications from candidates with equivalent experience will be considered, provided that the candidate can demonstrate an ability to fulfill the principal duties of the role and possesses the required competencies.
