About the Job
Working for a very well-established company in Trafford Park, Manchester, you will be working as a FLT Counterbalance/Ancillary Operator on a temporary to permanent position.
Objectives
The Effluent Pit Operator is responsible for the safe and environmental running of the effluent plant. The IBC washing Operator is responsible for the safe and environmental running of the IBC cleaning system. Both operators are expected to be interchangeable.
They are both responsible for the loading/offloading of bulk materials and the loading/off-loading of packaged goods, both raw material and finished goods.
Main Functions
The Ancillary Operator (Effluent Pit Operator and IBC washing Operator) must, for their business unit:
1. Be able to render accountability and advice to the function manager at any time and to manage and improve the systems within their area of responsibility.
Duties
Core performance areas:
Offloading/loading
1. Carries out their duties in accordance with production requirements schedule to ensure continuous receipt of raw material deliveries and finished goods despatches.
2. Ensures raw materials and semi-finished products are off loaded, checked and placed in the correct storage location.
3. Supervises correct testing, offloading into the correct storage tank.
4. Starts and monitors production process.
5. If required starts and monitors small production process and decants as required.
6. Is familiarized with standard product quality checks to back up/support quality control.
7. Assists and supervises load & off-load of raw materials by following the official loading procedure and safe loading.
Effluent Plant
1. Ensures the safe running of the effluent plant.
2. Commits to keep a clean and orderly shop floor.
3. Tests and discharges wastewater as required.
4. Ensures correct handling of premises, goods, machinery installations and equipment.
IBC Washing
1. Ensures the safe running of the IBC cleaning station.
2. Tags cleans IBC's as required.
3. Off loads all empty IBC deliveries both clean and used, to correct location.
General
1. Assists Production Supervisor/Manager to maintain and upkeep building, machinery installations and inventory in good condition to minimize maintenance costs.
2. Observes and promotes accurate use of machinery installations and inventory. Reports incidents of abuse and takes corrective action.
3. Communicates with internal departments (quality control, maintenance, logistics).
4. Attends meetings as required.
5. Safeguards health & safety of staff and safety of installations.
6. Is regularly trained on evacuation procedures.
7. Able to interpret and distinct various alarms signals.
8. Insist to staff wearing personal protection (wearing helmet, goggles, gloves, etc.) and set good example.
Forklift operator commits to carry out tasks set out in aforementioned core performance areas in compliance with:
1. Safety standards and legislation outlined in the corporate safety manual.
2. Environment standards and procedures outlined in the corporate environmental manual.
3. Transport safety regulations outlined in the transport safety manual.
4. Quality standards > precise implementation of product formulations.
Legislative Responsibilities
Health & Safety:
1. Follow H&S training given.
2. Be responsible for your own and other peoples H&S.
3. Co-operate with colleagues on H&S matters.
4. Inform other personnel if you observe inadequate H&S provisions.
Environment:
1. Be aware and adhere to the environmental policy and environmental permit.
2. Follow environmental procedures.
3. Responsible for avoiding pollution (water, air, noise or land).
4. Reporting of pollution and/or potential pollution.
The Quality Standards:
1. Product liability.
2. ISO certification.
3. Quality manual.
4. Quality management systems.
Criteria
Education and Qualifications:
1. Experience in a production environment is desirable.
2. FLT Counterbalance Licence is essential.
Shifts
1. Monday to Friday – 8 am to 4.30 pm.
Remuneration
1. £12 per hour.
