Route Services is a division of Network Rail that provides the Routes with services so they can help Network Rail deliver a better railway for a better Britain. We support the Routes with a myriad of services and supplies they need to maintain and operate the railway. See the diagram for a breakdown of our services. This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving – making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule.
About the role (External)
In this role, you’ll manage the supply chain operations services delivery against an agreed work bank with supplier and customer engagement.
Key accountabilities include:
1. Manage the supply chain operations delivery and assurance requirements for an agreed work bank.
2. Manage customers and suppliers to drive safe and efficient services.
3. Review, assess and manage the impact of change to the work bank and agree outcome with customer.
4. Manage resource conflicts or delivery constraints through to resolution.
5. Lead for performance failures to establish base cause and identify actions.
6. Identify opportunities for improvement initiatives through to implementation.
7. Manage the flow of accurate performance and contractual data to enable management of specified contracts.
8. Manage the engagement and development of the team within a respectful workforce.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following criteria:
1. Knowledge of relevant railway geography and network capability.
2. Knowledge of relevant train services and network capacity.
3. Able to specify all aspects of worksite and possession parameters.
4. Able to plan routing of supply chain services to and from possessions.
5. Able to time manage and prioritise the demands within a continuous planning process.
6. Able to evaluate complex factors and make decisions to maximise benefit to Network Rail.
7. Able to understand the team’s contribution and create a safe environment to deliver a safe service.
8. Able to operate planning systems.
9. Knowledge of Group Standards applicable to possession train delivery.
10. Experience of investigation and report writing.
