We are seeking a Landscaping Team Leader to join our client based near Woodbridge in Suffolk. This full- time, permanent, employed role. The Company Our client is a well-respected plant production nursery and arboretum, with an extensive botanic collection. They are specialist growers of a large range of rare and unusual plants, trees and shrubs and are located on a 30 acre plus site with a workforce of around 15. Our client is committed to growing genuine English grown and English provenance native trees and hedging and have a fantastic reputation within their industry. The business also design and create plant-based and environmental landscape schemes for a wide range of private and commercial clients. They use plants to provide civil engineering solutions and also specialise in conservation, habitat creation and the natural landscape. From creation of woodland, hedgerow planting and wildlife habitats to construction of large lakes and ponds. In addition to these projects, they also provide tree and shrub planting services for clients around East Anglia, but mainly within Suffolk. The Job This is a varied and hands-on role within a small, business where tasks and responsibilities will rotate with each season. Largely based on-site working on customer’s projects the post also involves time spent at the nursery working on planting and assisting with general nursery duties including some maintenance work during the summer months. Working in a small team of 2-4 others, as the Team Leader you’ll work closely with the Operations Manager, and Designer to execute projects to ensure customer satisfaction. You’ll be travelling to scheduled jobs mainly around Suffolk which vary in duration, depending on the nature of the project. Some days you might attend several planting jobs locally, and other times you’ll be spending several days or weeks working at one location on a project. This is a customer-facing role representing the business, so it’s important that in addition to good team leadership and communication skills, you’re professional and can deliver high standards of customer service. You’ll often be working unsupervised, so a level of responsibility and common sense are important Requirements Proven ex perience in landscaping, farming, civil engineering or construction (essential) An interest in nature, wildlife and the environment (essential) Used to physical work and happy to work outside in all weather conditions (essential) Good leadership skills would be an advantage (or potential to demonstrate in future) Experience in a range of landscape & grounds maintenance equipment tools e.g. mowers, brush & hedge cutters An organised approach with the ability to work efficiently and accurately A good standard of general external DIY skills would be useful A good eye for symmetry A good team player with a willingness to be flexible to assist colleagues across the whole company, as per the businesses’ needs Excellent interpersonal skills coupled with a friendly nature and professionalism The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of customers; delivering high standards of customer service and company representation A valid UK driving license (essential). Any points/driving convictions must be declared within the application process. Hours & Pay This role is a full-time position, working five days a week Monday to Friday. During the Winter months you’ll work from 7:30 – 16:00, whilst the rest of the year you’ll work from 7:30 – 17:00. From April-October, you will be required to carry out weekend watering duties on a rota with the rest of the team. This will be paid as overtime. The successful candidate will be paid a competitive annual salary, negotiable depending on skills and experience.
