Job Title: Materials ControllerContract: On going Location: BrightonSector: Rail Depot Parts / LogisticsCirca £35,000 PA37.5 hrs per weekMonday to Friday days Working with a global business at one of their many UK site locations The Materials Controller is the primary interface between the depot team, Internal (SCM) / External Suppliers and the Customer. The Materials Controller supports the team delivering our material supply obligations at a depot level, dealing directly with the Customer, Coordinators and Materials Handlers to resolve issues as they arise in order to improve the effectiveness of the GTR Project Material Supply requirements, and CustomerSatisfaction by; Maximising material availability and minimising Liquidated Damages exposure. Identifying materials where information is limited. Maintaining a positive attitude and flexibility to achieve company / customers goals and priorities.Responsibilities and Duties:General and AdministrativeMaintain a professional demeanour that reflects commitment to quality, continuous improvement, diversity, and respect for individuals.Comply with all quality and safety requirements.Follow systems and procedures outlined by company / project manuals.Ensure Company policies & procedures are followed. Operations Management of the day to day order book, dealing with PO queries, RFQs etc. Work with Engineering team to decide liability for defects and repair costs.Mitigate UMD Liquidated Damages (penalties for nil stock items and un satisfied demand). Regular Material classification review.Material ordering & reordering MRP (Product & NPR) in line with appropriate specified processes.Receiving and Selling Out Inventory in line with specified process.Issuing stock in line with specified process.Processing of rotables (repairable items)Ensuring materials are processed and controlled in accordance with the relevant Quality and Environmental Standards to include: Quarantine, Processing rejections / nonconformity and Shelf life.Monitor stock movement & behaviour and maintain inventory levels to ensure stock demands aresuccessfully met.Expedite internal & external suppliers.Ensure regular Perpetual stock audits are conducted and recorded/ investigate & resolve stockdiscrepancies.Managing all SAP Processes for materials.Producing daily information/ feedback to Materials Manager, Engineering & Production teams.Ownership of Materials Management tools.Covering for Materials Manager when required.Providing the relevant information / reports in a timely manner for the Project Governance process.Financial ControlSupport all necessary actions to manage cost and improve profitability.Identify Risk and Opportunity.Maintain a safe work environment and ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the physical location.
