MEDICAL TYPIST - Permanent Position **Previous applicants need not apply**
This role is offered on a part-time basis of 28 hours per week, candidates interested in working part-time are encouraged to apply and will receive a salary on a pro-rata basis.
An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a Medical Typist who is highly motivated, positive, friendly, and flexible. The candidate should work effectively using their own initiative as well as being part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to multi-task with high attention to detail in this fast-paced role.
Your role is to provide a comprehensive typing service to support the Women & Children's Administrative department. After an initial training period, the post may have the opportunity to work from home for part of the week.
We are a friendly team looking for a reliable and enthusiastic person to join us who will mainly be typing clinical letters. Experience with Microsoft packages would be an advantage.
Main Duties of the Job
Your role will involve providing a comprehensive typing service, which includes typing clinic letters and other related documents with high accuracy and in line with agreed Trust targets.
The ideal candidate should have good communication skills and be able to prioritise their own workload. GCSE in English and RSA Typing or equivalent keyboard skills are essential. Previous NHS experience and knowledge of medical terminology are desirable. Audio typing experience and proficiency in Microsoft packages are required.

Job Responsibilities
The post will be an integral part of the Surgery, Women & Children's Division, providing an efficient service to the Division in support of the work of Clinical Staff to maximise patient care. The successful applicant will be working as a Medical Typist within the Women & Children's Administrative Team.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE level C or above in English (or equivalent)
* RSA II or equivalent in Typing
* Additional evidence of good basic general education to GCSE standard
* Demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft packages (especially Word)
* Certificate in Medical Terminology
* European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or equivalent
Experience
* Experience of audio typing
* Experience of managing and prioritising a varied workload
* Experience of working with computers
* Previous NHS experience
* Knowledge of medical terminology
* Experience of working within an office environment
Skills
* Excellent typing skills with a typing speed of at least 60wpm
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to work effectively, independently and as part of a team
