This is a great development opportunity for a pharmacist to further advance their skills and specialise in technical services, cancer, and nutrition. The post-holder will be supported by the lead pharmacist in technical services, specialist TPN technician and the nutrition team. The role combines a mix of technical and clinical roles (50/50 split). There will also be opportunity to undertake further postgraduate study including independent prescribing.
This is a unique opportunity to be part of the team of cancer pharmacists, providing clinical support and services to Oncology and Haematology, ensuring that all chemotherapy prescriptions are screened by a cancer pharmacist. The role will involve close working with the multidisciplinary team, including consultants, specialist nurses and chemotherapy nurses.
The postholder will also be part of the multidisciplinary nutrition team which comprises of consultants, specialist nurses, dieticians, and a dedicated nutrition pharmacy Technician. You will learn about TPN and support the existing team by providing pharmaceutical and clinical advice to the nutrition team and will play a vital role in the co-ordination and delivery of service to inpatients as well as patients receiving TPN at home via a home care provider.
