What you’ll be responsible for
You will assist the Network Manager to achieve regulatory performance targets and ensure network assets are managed within budget. You will be pro-active in resolving customer related issues, such as flooding, pollution and blockages whilst positively representing Welsh Water. You will work within a shift rota as well as participating in standby rota to deliver exceptional customer service.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Resolving customer related issues with regards to the sewerage network, taking ownership and resolving to a satisfactory conclusion, including but not limited to flooding, pollution, collapse, blockage, rising main bursts, and odours.
* Assisting the Network Manager and reviewing the departmental budget, workload and manpower requirements.
* Liaising with asset strategy, local asset management and capital delivery teams to ensure risks are identified, understood and solutions developed.
* Assisting the Network Manager with external stakeholders to develop and maintain strong regulatory relationships, e.g., Natural Resources Wales representatives, and participation with community groups when appropriate.
* Ensuring all activities are carried out in line with health and safety policies and procedures.
* Developing and maintaining a quality management system and achieving a high standard of internal and external audit compliance.
* Ensuring all service providers are effectively managed and compliant with management systems & processes.
* Providing technical support to service providers and Welsh Water operational staff.
* Identifying cost effective operational or reactive capital solutions for complex network issues to ensure that customer and environmental issues are quickly resolved.
* Ensuring all investigations into sewerage network issues are of the highest standard and compliant with respective procedures.
* Monitoring and reviewing telemetry alarms, carrying out detailed investigations and making recommendations that reduce alarm activity and improve operational efficiencies.
* Emergency Response – provision and testing of appropriate functional contingency plans.
* Responsible for the management of the Access to Assets Procedure.
* Covering and deputising for the Network Manager as appropriate, participating in relevant regional groups as required.

About you
Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
* A minimum HNC qualification in Civil Engineering or working towards this
* Full and valid driving licence
* Experience gained through understanding of wastewater service delivery working within high performance teams
* Ability to think strategically while ensuring effective day-to-day delivery of services
* Computer literate, with experience of Windows applications & SAP
* Understanding of planning and scheduling of work processes
* Ability to develop positive working relationships and to be seen as a highly credible representative of the business
* Excellent communicator (verbal & written) with strong interpersonal skills
* Ability to gather, understand, analyse and interpret information & concepts quickly

* This role is office based
* The successful candidate will be required to participate in a standby rota.
