About the Post
The post-holder is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of all care activities within the home, including assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating resident care; managing the admissions process; upholding care policies and procedures; and supervising the daily functions of care staff to maintain regulatory standards.
As Deputy Manager in the Care Home Manager’s absence, the post-holder will act as the primary authority for all clinical and social care matters, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory bodies. Additionally, the post-holder will lead the care team by planning, monitoring, appraising, training, and providing ongoing supervision of staff to ensure that residents consistently receive the highest standard of care and support.

1. Core Role
The Deputy Manager supports the Care Home Manager in overseeing clinical and social care activities within Chirk Court. The role requires the management of care practices, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and upholding ClwydAlyn’s standards of excellence in resident care. The Deputy Manager acts as the primary authority on-site in the Care Home Manager’s absence
Essential Qualifications and Experience
You must be a Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Leadership and Care Management
* Assess, Plan, and Oversee Care: Responsible for all care-related activities within the home, including admissions, care protocols, and care staff management.
* Evaluate and Implement Standards: Monitor care delivery standards and assess staff performance, ensuring high-quality care that aligns with policies and regulatory requirements.
* Care Plan Oversight: Ensure residents' care plans are current, individualized, and effective, supervising the adherence of care staff to these plans.
* Medication Management: Supervise and manage the safe administration, storage, and disposal of drugs per policy.
2. Team Management and Development
* Team Leadership: Lead, support, and motivate a team of care and auxiliary staff, fostering a culture of compassion, professionalism, and reliability.
* Training and Development: Identify and arrange training opportunities, supervising staff development to enhance care standards and maintain regulatory compliance.
* Supervision and Appraisal: Regularly appraise staff performance, offering guidance and coaching as necessary to ensure resident care meets ClwydAlyn’s values.
3. Compliance and Quality Assurance
* Adherence to Policies: Ensure all practices align with the Care Standards Act, National Minimum Standards, and guidelines from the Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales (CSSIW).
* Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain up-to-date, accurate records on all care provided and supervise care staff in adhering to documentation protocols.
4. Resident and Family Relations
* Communication with Stakeholders: Facilitate effective communication with residents, their families, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive, holistic care.
* Community and Agency Liaison: Engage with relevant community resources, statutory agencies, and regulatory bodies to advocate for residents' needs and promote a positive reputation for the care home.
5. Operational Oversight
* Supportive Decision Making: Take the lead in daily operational decisions and address issues proactively, particularly when the Care Home Manager is unavailable.
* Resource Management: Oversee care home supplies, manage budgets for necessary goods, and follow company cash-handling protocols.
6. Technology and Record-Keeping
* IT and Documentation: Utilize in-house IT systems for resident records, reporting, and operational tasks. Maintain proficiency in technology to streamline care processes.
7. Health and Safety
* Policy Compliance: Uphold and enforce Health & Safety practices throughout daily activities, ensuring staff and resident safety is a priority.
* Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, in line with ClwydAlyn’s risk management protocols.
