FUNCTION
Responsible for the daily operation of the workshop, coaching and developing workshop staff, and ensuring health & safety best practices are adhered to at all times. To work within set budgets, capture and report all damage charges, maintain equipment to the highest standard, and ensure an excellent level of customer service is achieved at all times.
Reporting to: Depot Manager – Group Operations Manager
Liaising with: Other NPH Depots, Head Office Staff
Personal Responsibilities
* Monitor & promote all health & safety procedures.
* Work within the company Health & Safety policy to ensure safe working practices.
* Lead the workshop team by setting best practice examples at all times.
* Recruit and discipline workshop staff in conjunction with Depot Manager.
* Resolve workshop staff performance issues in conjunction with Depot Manager where necessary.
* Promote teamwork and cooperation within the depot and across the company.
* Have a flexible approach in relation to supporting the depot during required times.
* Inspire and deliver a can-do attitude throughout the workshop team.
* Ensure all workshop staff are competent in their roles, identify where training is required, and work with Depot Manager to implement.
* Treat everyone fairly and with respect.
* Attend depot meetings as and when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Implement a system to monitor plant under repair to ensure fast-moving products are readily available to support the hire desk.
* Ensure consistent availability of Top 25 Tool hire products.
* Order spares from nominated suppliers within authorised limits.
* Order spares for required equipment in a timely fashion to reduce downtime of fleet assets.
* Ensure minimum stock levels are maintained at all times.
* All plant & equipment to be repaired, serviced, and cleaned before every hire.
* All plant to be maintained within required service intervals.
* P.A.T testing: implement & maintain an appliance testing system covering all relevant equipment, ensuring compliance with current legislation. Additionally, ensure an up-to-date and accurate record is kept of all P.A.T testing and that the equipment is labelled correctly.
* Ensure all servicing records are entered on to hiremate, entering parts used and job number.
* Breakdowns: implement a system to record breakdowns ensuring a fast response to meet and exceed customer expectations.
* Where necessary, implement a strategy to reduce breakdowns through workshop controls.
* Damage charges and shortages to be reported to hire desk immediately or within 24 hours of equipment returning to depot. Ensure a system is in place and adhered to, to record and report this information.
* Equipment under repair, awaiting inspection, ready for hire to be clearly segregated.
* Diagnose faults & repair/maintain a variety of plant & small tools equipment within the NPH fleet & customers' machines where agreed.
* Check & tag all equipment and prepare pre-hire inspection sheets.
* Complete all test certificates & associated paperwork. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of products and full range of accessories.
* Keep the workshop clean & tidy at all times.
* Abide by customer Health & Safety rules when on site.
* Safeguard all company assets.

Operational Days: Monday to Friday
Hours: 45 or 47.5 hours per week
CITB/NVQ qualification: preferred but not essential
CSCS card holder: advantageous
Holidays: 30 days per year inclusive of statutory bank holidays, increasing up to a maximum of 33 days per year after five years of service.

Pay: £36,000.00-£38,500.00 per year
