• Liverpool City Council are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, passionate and motivated Youth Worker within the Targeted Support Team, part of Targeted Services for Young People for maternity cover.
• The successful candidate will work directly with young people who have been referred for one to one support, and will be expected to manage a caseload of referrals.
As a youth worker in our team you will build positive and trusting relationships with young people, and will work in a bespoke person centred way in order to get the very best outcomes for them.
• Young people are referred to us for one to one support from a variety of agencies and with a wide range of needs which requires a creative, imaginative and Child First approach.
• As a youth worker in our team you will also build positive relationships with families, caregivers and fellow professionals so that young people are effectively safeguarded. You will support and advocate for young people in professionals meetings.
• You will work in a variety of settings including young people’s homes, community settings, schools etc and will be flexible in your working day as you may be required to work evenings and possible weekends in order to accommodate young people as and when needed .
• You will have an excellent understanding of issues facing young people and will be expected to assess individual needs and record interventions in a timely way.

Main Areas of Responsibility:
• To assist in and lead on the development and delivery of programmes of work
with young people both group and individual
• To ensure the views and needs of young people are represented in the
services and programmes that are delivered by Targeted Services for Young
people and wider LCC services
• To record accurately all contact with and work undertaken with young people ,
maintaining appropriate records using the electronic recording system as
required by Targeted Services for Young People
• To assess, plan and deliver interventions according to the needs of young
people and their families
• To work with partners both statutory and voluntary and local communities to
provide positive opportunities for young people
• Advocate for and represent young people in a variety of settings
Qualification and training
Essential
• A nationally recognised Youth and Community Qualification or equivalent (A)
Experience
Essential
• Experience of working with young people in a variety of settings
• Experience of delivering group and individual programmes of work with young
people
Desirable
• Experience of working in a team and the ability to contribute to team and
service developments
Skills/Abilities
Essential
• Understanding of risk and safeguarding issues for young people
• Knowledge of and ability to apply LCC Child Protection procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively with young people including those who
display challenging behaviour
• Good communication skills both written and verbal
Desirable
• Ability to use electronic recording systems with a good level of administrative
and organisational skills
• Excellent listening and assessment skills
