Job Description
We have an opportunity to work within Haematology Oncology Day Unit (HODU) and Fareham Haematology Oncology Day Unit (FHODU). The service is spread across the 2 main sites QA hospital in Cosham and Fareham community hospital.
The Unit provides Systemic Anti Cancer Therapies (SACT) to cancer patients that live in the South East region of Hampshire, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight.
This is an opportunity to develop a career in cancer care, to learn and develop skills such as cannulation, phlebotomy and Central Venous access Devices (CVADs). To develop skills and expected training for SACT such as Chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antibody therapy and hormone therapy etc.
We support patients with more chronic diseases as well such as myeloproliferative disorders and complex Haematological disorders such as hemochromatosis or polycythaemia, sickle cell anaemia to name a few.
Staff will be expected to learn unique specialised care within HODU and to also complete United Kingdom Oncology Nurses society (UKONs) SACT passport. It is an expectation that nurses complete the passport within 6 months of completion of the training day.
Qualifications
Essential
1. Current RN, registration with NMC and any other relevant post registration qualifications
2. Degree in relevant field
3. Evidence of recent CPD
Desirable
1. Computer literate, knowledge of patient administration system
2. Driving licence

1. Managing resources and contributing to departmental budget
2. Evidence of developing policy, guidelines and managing resources
3. An awareness of research and evidence-based practice relevant to clinical area
