I have an exciting opportunity for a Rail Development/ Rail Stakeholder Manager to join a client of mine based in Sheffield.
You'll be joining an organisation dedicated to shaping the future of South Yorkshire, tackling important issues like transport infrastructure, housing, skills development, and job creation. They work closely with local councils, businesses, and community groups to deliver impactful projects that make a real difference to the region's economy and quality of life.
You will be responsible for leading and managing a team of two officers and overseeing a budget of £175,000. You will act as a key stakeholder to all the regional TOC's ensuring that their plans align with the company's ambitions and the best outcome is delivered for the customers.
Responsibilities for this Rail Stakeholder Manager role:
1. Oversee the implementation of policies at the local level across the South Yorkshire region, ensuring that rail services through the region and beyond allow passengers to connect with essential services for work, education, healthcare, and leisure.
2. Work collaboratively with key stakeholders including TOC's, TfN, and Rail North Committee to ensure that the requirements of South Yorkshire are represented.
3. Act to protect timetables to ensure continuity of service, and lobby for improvements in connectivity and capacity across the regional railway.
4. Provide input and influence in matters relating to rail contracts that connect South Yorkshire to the wider region and beyond through regular attendance at Transport for the North (TfN) and Rail North Partnership meetings.
5. Manage the Rail Team and budget of £175,000 in order to provide operational direction, support, and accountability, ensuring that the budget is allocated to achieve best value for money.
6. Support the implementation of strategies in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders.
7. Act as the lead to review, analyze, and respond to TOC business plans and ensure compliance with Train Service Requirements as laid out in the franchise agreement, collating regional views and providing consolidated responses in the best interest of the region.
8. Proactively develop and contribute responses to future consultations on the rail network and forthcoming franchises.
Requirements for this Rail Stakeholder Manager role:
1. Professionally qualified, preferably a Degree or equivalent in a relevant field or equivalent level of professional experience.
2. Good knowledge of the light and heavy rail industry.
3. Good knowledge of the regional rail network and associated station assets.
4. Awareness of relevant rail-related legislation and its application.
5. Substantive previous experience in a similar management role, including managing stakeholders.
6. Previous experience in overseeing the management of assets.
Package on offer for this Rail Stakeholder Manager role:
1. £45,000 - £51,000 salary banding
2. Pension
3. 28 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
4. Flexible hours - 7am - 7pm
5. Hybrid Working - 3 days in office
