An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Communication Manager who is an exceptional communicator with a passion for translating scientific concepts into captivating narratives. The Communications Manager will play a key role in developing and implementing an effective multi-channel communications strategy to raise the profile and impact of our research activity with diverse audiences and stakeholders. You will apply excellent skills in developing magazine and website content, motivating staff engagement in communications, plus developing strong working relationships with colleagues across the entire Department. Assisted by a part time Communications Assistant, you will edit and produce the Departments flagship publication ChemCam, create a regular staff newsletter and work in conjunction with the University's Development and Alumni Relations to develop and implement a programme of engagement with alumni and supporters. You will also have experience in writing, editing and commissioning content for publication on a broad range of communication platforms, excellent planning, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You will have a good understanding of social networking tools and their application, as well as excellent editorial, proofreading and report-writing skills. The role is up to 25 hours per week, days and hours to be worked will be negotiable on appointment.
