Overview
The purpose of the role is to lead the CEIAG team to ensure that there is a consistent approach to CEIAG across the organisation. Additionally, in the capacity of Careers Advisor, to provide impartial careers information, advice, and guidance to facilitate our learners to make informed career/job decisions, helping them understand themselves better and to know the opportunities and pathways open to them, so that they have clear plans of what they will move onto when they leave SWRAC and possibly even longer-term plans.

The main responsibilities of the role:
In leading the CEIAG team:
* To ensure all Careers Advisors are following SWRAC processes, policies, and procedures.
* To ensure that the practices of Careers Advisors are standardised across all centres and that all learners are accessing impartial careers education information, advice, and guidance at appropriate points in their learning journey.
* To ensure that the delivery teams (tutors/LSAs), Quality Team, and Centre Managers are kept up to date with developments within CEIAG.
* To ensure that learners who are coming to the end of their programmes (last 6 months) are supported to effectively transition on to their next steps, including internal progression.
* To ensure that, where appropriate and practical for the learner, they leave SWRAC at the end of their learning journey with a positive and meaningful outcome e.g. paid employment, further education, an apprenticeship, or voluntary work.
* To track and record learner progression and destinations, as far as is possible, for 3 years following completion of their learning journey with SWRAC.
In Line Management:
* Line managing Careers Advisers and Employer Engagement Officers.
* Training new careers advisers and supporting completion of the Diploma in Careers Guidance.
* Monitoring of careers guidance to include annual observations of qualified staff and ongoing observations for trainees at each centre.
* Developing training for the careers team and wider staff training.
* Carrying out one-to-one reviews.
Being willing to travel to other SWRAC centres which may include overnight stays. In supporting learners:
* To provide impartial careers education, information, advice, and guidance to students during their time at SWRAC and to offer support for this after they have left SWRAC for a period of 12 months, and where possible up to 3 years.
* Enable the learners to engage with careers guidance through use of tools, such as the Careers Portfolio, Careers Support Guide, and career websites helping learners to understand their skills, strengths, barriers, motivators, etc.
* To arrange visits to colleges or universities, employers, and careers events, e.g. the Careers and Apprenticeship Show.
* To meet with learners who are at risk of leaving early to discuss and explore options.
* To offer a listening ear and signposting across a range of issues affecting our learners as required.
* To collaborate with programme tutors to deliver group sessions to all cohorts (introduction to careers, workshops: specific careers / using careers information, CVs, Cover Letters, Applications, Job Hunting, Mock Interviews, etc.).
* To report on learner progress and achievement, destination, and progression on a monthly basis, and as requested by the Head of Learning and Quality.
* To complete an annual report on CEIAG for the Board highlighting destinations of learners for the previous academic year.
* To complete Careers Action Plans (CAP) on Databridge, saving to appropriate student files.
* To use Caseload Manager (spreadsheet) to plan learner appointments and note career aspirations and intended destinations, etc.
* To contribute to safeguarding processes as required.
* To contribute to EHCP reviews as required.
Quality assurance:
* Prepare student case-studies both in text & video formats – two per month.
* To contribute to the company Matrix standard assessment and to ensure the company maintains the Matrix standard.
* To contribute to the meeting of Gatsby Benchmarks and assessing this through the Compass Evaluation Assessment.
* To contribute to meeting the requirements of Ofsted.
Working with others:
* To attend local stakeholder meetings/careers forums as appropriate to the role.
* To attend job fairs, careers events, and other networking events as appropriate.
* To act as the liaison between SWRAC and stakeholders and supporting organisations in the areas CEIAG and pastoral/social concerns.
* Maintain close working relationships with tutors and IQAs to ensure that services are provided effectively and efficiently to students.
Continual Professional Development (CPD):
* To identify and attend careers training opportunities and networking events with other careers practitioners to develop CPD.
Other duties:
* Any other duties required by the Management team.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
* Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance.
* Willingness to complete the Careers Leader qualification.
Skills / Competencies:
* The ability to lead a team.
* Ability to work with young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
* Ability to work with young people with mental health needs (emotional and behavioural).
* Administration skills for completing reports, using spreadsheets, and data entry.
Knowledge:
* Careers options: Education, Employment, Volunteering, and Training.

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum (pro rata for part-time hours) and dependent on experience and qualifications.
Full-time position, part-time also considered.
