Job Title: Sessional Lecturer/Tutor
Reports To: Head of Programme
Programmes: MSc in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes (CWTP)
Salary: Day rate of £390 to £418
Contract: Sessional (Term Time: September 2024 – July 2025)

Role Purpose
We are seeking a tutor to join our core team on the MSc CWTP validated by Middlesex University. The job involves facilitating high-quality learning within the Institute through teaching, administration, and student support.
Joining a supportive team, you will help develop practitioners in CWTP via experiential learning, creative writing processes, practice skills development, and research projects.

Key Responsibilities
Learning, Teaching, and Assessment
1. Between 13 and 15 teaching days per year (agreed in advance). Teaching online and in-person at weekends, including 6 days in person at Metanoia Institute London.
2. Prepare and develop teaching content and materials.
3. Deliver module content.
4. Set, mark, and assess assignments.
5. Innovate teaching and assessment methods while ensuring quality delivery.
6. Demonstrate a high level of commitment to and responsibility for allocated teaching days.
Academic Advice
1. Guide students in tutorials to support their progress.
2. Understand course philosophy, assessment requirements, and university regulations.
Management and Administration
1. Attend tutor meetings.
2. Liaise with the academic coordinator and the tutor team.
3. Assist with course administration, including induction and record-keeping.
4. Manage personal administrative tasks.
General
1. Represent Metanoia at professional bodies, events, and conferences.
2. Follow Metanoia’s policies, including Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety, and Codes of Ethics.
Essential Criteria
1. Professional qualification at Masters level or equivalent qualifications and experience in Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes.
2. Active creative writing practice.
3. Experience as a facilitator of creative writing for therapeutic purposes.
4. Experience teaching or training in higher education or related fields.
5. Strong knowledge of relevant topics in CWTP and ability to devise teaching content.
6. Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and independent-working skills.
7. Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
Desirable Criteria
1. Teaching qualification or substantial experience as a facilitator devising and delivering sessions to groups.
2. Willingness to develop an understanding of higher education systems and regulations.
3. Knowledge of contemporary issues in CWTP.
Additional Skills
1. Creativity, vision, and adaptability.
2. Proficiency in digital tools for teaching.
