About this role:
To lead, develop and deliver Performance Nutrition support in the first team working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to create an elite training environment for all players.
Responsibilities:
1. To work with the Head of Sports Medicine & Science to deliver the club objectives regarding Performance Nutrition and contribute to Individual Performance Plans for all first team players.
2. To work with the Head of Sports Medicine & Science and collaboratively across all departments to ensure the highest quality of Performance Nutrition support to all players, at all times.
3. Keep the performance team updated by adding reviews to medical records when appropriate and producing an end of day report that is sent out via email every day you are at the club.
4. Positively impact the environment to ensure players are fueling and recovering optimally.
5. Provide one to one support for all players, carry out skinfold assessments and arrange DEXA scans according to Club protocol.
6. Maintain a comprehensive, indexed database of work conducted with athletes and coaches, at all times.
7. To work as a collaborative part of the Sports Medicine and Science team to maximize and ensure best practice.
8. Manage intern/s who will help with the delivery of the Performance Nutrition service.
9. To liaise closely with the Medical, Sports Science, Strength and Conditioning and Coaching staff regarding player wellbeing, injury and rehabilitation.
10. To assist the Head of Sports Medicine & Science in the implementation of medical research led projects throughout the first team.
11. Liaise closely with the Performance Chef to ensure meal provisions at the training ground, at hotels and when travelling is optimal.
12. To contribute to the CPD and development programme within the first team.
13. Provide evidence-based supplement support and follow the Informed Sport guidelines.
14. Review blood tests with First Team Doctor and provide nutrition / supplementation support where appropriate.
15. Liaise with players private chefs.
16. Upholding and promoting the Club’s policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Equal Opportunities policies and procedures.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
1. Must have completed an MSc in Sports Nutrition.
2. Up to date ISAK Level 1 Qualification (or can obtain within 4 weeks of starting).
3. Up to date Level 1 Food & Hygiene Certificate.
4. Up to date UKAD Certificate.
5. Up to date Emergency Medical First Aid in Football (EMFAiF) qualification (or demonstrable ability to complete the accreditation within 6 months).
6. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a sporting environment.
7. Demonstrable up to date knowledge of the current evidence base and implement this within their practice.
8. An excellent communicator both written and orally.
9. Confident, self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
10. Able to work collaboratively with players and staff.
11. Able to educate, advise and motivate individuals.
12. Organizational and time management skills essential.
