Purpose of the role: Responsible for managing and processing requests for Mini Recycling Centres (MRCs), conducting site assessments and overseeing the installation and communication processes – including engaging with residents. The role involves providing guidance and assesses conformity on waste and recycling facilities for new developments as part of the Bristol City Council planning process, ensuring that bins are in place for when residents move into new developments. Working with the Operational Support Team and MRC Supervisor, the role deals with MRC enquiries from arranging replacement bins to capacity checks and working with residents to reduce MRC contamination levels. Other engagement work includes undertaking Bin Assessments for residents who request a larger bin, and supporting with complaints on households with unauthorised second bins. Key Responsibilities: Mini Recycling Centre (MRC) requests To manage and process new requests for MRCs from managing agents, landlords, developers and members of the public To conduct site visits to assess the suitability of a MRC request Liaise with BWC operational teams and SHEQ to check suitability of sites Oversea the installation of MRCs and communication with residents and MRC requester Keep BWC management systems updated with new sites and services Planning Guidance and New Developments Provide advice on suitable waste facilities and access for new builds Track applications for new developments to support forecasting of future growth in services Liaise with developers, operational teams and SHEQ prior to practical completion to ensure final build provides suitable, accessible waste facilities Upon build completion, oversea installation of new MRCs Raise orders and set up invoicing for waste and recycling containers Engagement Work with Operational Support Team and MRC Supervisor to respond and deal with MRC enquiries received from residents, Councillors and via the Council website Undertake bin assessments when residents request a larger bin due to household size Support the Customer Relations Team to investigate complaints of unauthorised second bins and take remedial action Essential Requirements for the Role: A full UK driving license Results orientated with the ability to prioritise and to work to deadline Ability to use judgement, experience and initiative to solve problems Strong understanding of waste management and recycling processes Proven experience in engaging with diverse communities and stakeholders Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills including ability to present complex information in concise reports Conflict resolution and mediation skills and an ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy Ability to use data to inform decision-making and improve processes Understanding of health and safety regulations related to waste management Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures A positive, problem-solving attitude Ability to work autonomously and manage own time/workload A positive, solution focused approach Strong team-working skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across different departments Ability to work outside and on foot Sound ICT skills, specifically MS Office suite Full Job Description can be provided upon request.
