Odfjell Technology is taking a significant step into new markets with our first contract using a modular combined drilling and hydraulic workover rig. Secured with Brunei Shell Petroleum, this project marks an important milestone in our growth, combining geographic expansion, new collaborations, and exciting opportunities for our employees.
This venture into Southeast Asia allows us to showcase our expertise as a preferred partner in new markets. Partnering with X Rig AS and utilizing their advanced cyber-based modular rig, we will perform rig intake activities such as modifications, mobilization, client acceptance, develop management systems, and perform offshore workover operations on various platforms with tie-back to a Dynamically Positioned Semi-Submersible Vessel. Through this, we will demonstrate our safety culture and deliver exceptional value to the client.
This project is not just about growth; it is about proving what we can do. With a focus on operational excellence, this contract positions Odfjell Technology as a key player in the modular rig market, paving the way for future opportunities in new geographical markets.
The Contract is expected to commence May 2025 in Singapore for rig acceptance before proceeding to Brunei September 2025 and has a firm duration of twenty-four months from Brunei commencement with two optional periods of 12 months each.
We are now looking for talented Senior Toolpushers / Toolpushers to join us on this journey in the following positions working 4 on / 4 off rotation.
Role Summary:
The senior representative offshore responsible for ensuring safety is prioritized at all times whilst supervising the work activity of all Odfjell Technology personnel. Essential functions include planning, scheduling, problem solving, conducting inspections and operational meetings, interacting with other rig department heads, and communicating directions to senior crew members. The ultimate objective of this position is to complete the agreed work scopes safely, to the satisfaction of the Client, Company management and within compliance of applicable regulations.
Responsibilities:
* Ensures safety is prioritized at all times.
* Manages and directs the daily activities of the drilling department in accordance with client goals and within Company guidelines/policy.
* Be knowledgeable in the Company management systems to ensure compliance with procedure.
* Operates the drilling/workover unit in accordance with safe and acceptable practices within company guidelines/policy.
* To be on location at critical points in the operation or to ensure adequate supervision is available.
* Ensure that all Drilling, Completions and Service Provider personnel carry out work activities in accordance with the Client and Odfjell Technology procedures.
* Conducts/oversees pre-task and post-task meetings with Drill crew to communicate daily/task objectives, special instructions, safety precautions, procedure compliance and gather lessons learnt.
* Conducts internal assessments (where applicable) to company standards and procedures on activities within your area of competence.
* Act as an Area Authority to ensure all work activities in the Drilling package and associated areas are controlled under the permit to work system.
* Carry out yearly development talks as per part of Company procedure.
* Continual improvement and transfer of experience.
* Conducts pre-tour meetings with drill crew to communicate daily objectives, special instructions, safety precautions and training activities as required.
* Attend appropriate well control schools (IWCF). Maintain appropriate well control certification and operate the drilling/workover unit in accordance with safe well control practices and in compliance with local regulatory requirements.
* Knowledgeable and able to perform/supervise procedures for circulating kick out in accordance with all well control scenarios.
* Responsible for conducting competence assessments in conjunction with the Odfjell Technology Competence Assurance Management System (Key deliverable).
* Develop and maintain good working relationships with other department heads, supervisors, operator’s representatives, subcontractors, and other personnel on the drilling unit.
* Eliminate any waste and establish a cost-conscious planning effort within area of responsibility.
* Ensure that adequate levels of inventory for the drilling system equipment area maintained, accurately inventoried, and preserved.
* Review all Operational/Technical Bulletins and implement all directives as required.
In addition to the above, the STP is also responsible for:
* Liaise on behalf of Company with the Client’s representative on site.
* Ensure that weekly crew safety meetings take place.
* Review drilling programmes and issue daily reports.
* Report status and changes of status promptly to rig manager following companies Management of Change.
* Operate in such a manner which results in achieving the Operating Plan and objectives including but not limited to the following areas:
* Safety
* Downtime
* Manpower turnover
* Eliminate any waste, and establish a cost-conscious planning effort within area of responsibility.
* Ensure that adequate levels of inventory for the drilling system equipment area maintained, accurately inventoried and preserved.
Qualifications and or Experience:
Must have current experience as an operational Toolpusher on a Platform or mobile rig.
* The ideal candidate will have experience of working on the UKCS and internationally in remote and challenging locations.
* Must have demonstrable cyberbase experience.
* The individual must demonstrate strong leadership in safety, and supervisory skills.
* Must have good professional knowledge and have completed systematic training for the post or at least 3 years documented practice as Toolpusher.
* Must be in possession of a valid recognised Supervisor Level 4 IWCF Well Control Certificate.
* Experience in all phases of onsite drilling operations.
