The Vacancy:
We are looking for a History teacher to join our experienced and supportive team for a maternity cover position. The successful candidate needs to be passionate about the subject and has the drive to inspire and empower the young minds of our students at Droitwich Spa High School. They will be responsible for teaching History across Year 8, Year 9, and Year 10, across the full age and ability range of the school and will also take on the responsibility of running a tutor group. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a progressive and established team of 4 History teachers who are committed to delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons. The appointment will be for up to a year to cover a maternity absence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver History lessons to students in Years 8 to 11, ensuring a high standard of teaching.
* Plan with the aid of our fully resourced department, prepare, and mark work to meet the requirements of the national curriculum and Edexcel GCSE exam board
* Take responsibility for running a tutor group, supporting the personal development and wellbeing of students, reporting to the Head of House
* Foster a love for History and encourage student participation and critical thinking.
* Provide strong behaviour management to ensure a positive and productive classroom environment.
* Work collaboratively with a team of 4 experienced History teachers to share ideas and resources.
* Contribute to the development of the school by promoting high standards of achievement in students and high-quality learning and teaching
* Support curriculum planning and development in the subject
* Promote a range of appropriate teaching approaches and assist in the development of suitable learning and teaching resources
* Attend meetings and parents’ evenings as set out in the published school calendar

* Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.
* Creative, energetic, and able to bring fresh ideas and innovative approaches to lessons.
* A proactive colleague, willing to collaborate and contribute to the success of the department.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines for marking and assessments.
* Experience of teaching KS3 and KS4 History is essential.
* Knowledge of the Edexcel GCSE exam board is advantageous
