Role and Responsibilities:
* The successful candidate once fully trained will work as a semi-autonomous member of the distillery production team, involved in a wide range of distillery processes on a roster of shift patterns.
* Located at the Titanic pump house and dry dock, the Distiller will be producing Irish single malt and pot still whiskey. The Distiller will be required to carry out mashing, fermentation and distilling activities. Working under the guidance and reporting to the Head Distiller. The Distiller will have a strong focus on health and safety, attention to detail, and operate in an efficient manner to achieve distillery targets, goals, and objectives.
Daily Operations Include (but are not limited to):
· Raw material handling
· Manual handling
· Mashing and fermentation
· QA and QC checks
· Detailed record keeping
· Distillation
· Spirit handling
· Casking
· Stocktaking
· Effluent and Co-product management
· Interaction with visitors
· Clean in Place (CIP) of distillery equipment
· General cleaning and housekeeping
· Maintaining safety and hygiene standards at all times and ensuring a safe work environment for self and others.
· Recording distillery data in a timely manner.
· Monitor the distillery operations and report any non-conformance or breakdown.
· Ensuring a clean and tidy work environment.
· The distillery will be a loud and busy work environment, and candidates should be prepared to interact with visitors to the distillery.
· Candidates will be required to be physically fit to manually handle bulky 25kg bags of malt, climb up and down ladders and cope with extreme temperatures.
· Provide assistance to other areas of the business as and when required.
Essential Criteria:
· Minimum of GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
· Minimum 2 years experience as a Distiller or Brewer.
· Computer literate in using Microsoft Office packages.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Forklift licence
· Car licence
Desirable Criteria:
· Brewing or Distilling qualification
· Previous experience of using SCADA control systems
· First Aid trained
