A secondary provision in Weston-super-Mare working with Teaching Personnel is looking for a Maths Teacher who’s highly committed to helping young people, many of whom have faced significant challenges due to health reasons such as chronic fatigue syndrome, anxiety (including EBSA), or even recovering from serious illness to achieve more than they might believe is possible.
The timetables are very personalized, and students are referred by their mainstream school with a letter of support from a senior health professional. The students are dual registered with their mainstream school, and the expectation is that we are not a long-term placement.
The classroom sizes are no bigger than 3 students with the support of 1 or 2 TAs in the classroom. This role does not involve any Personal Care.
The ideal candidate:
* Be an ECT or a Fully Qualified Teacher.
* Be enthusiastic and able to engage children in their learning. The aim is to get the children back into mainstream education when they’re well enough.
* Be confident, proactive, and understanding when working with children with medical conditions.
* Be comfortable teaching Maths to Y9-11 students.
Information about the role:
* Part-Time: Tuesday - Friday, term time only 8:15 – 3:45.
* Classroom size: 3 pupils, creating strong relationships with the students with lots of classroom support from 1-2 TAs.
* Start: The role begins after Easter as maternity cover but will very likely continue until Christmas (with the potential of being extended to a direct contract).
* Paid to scale and paid weekly; do not use Umbrella companies to process your payment.
* On-site car parking.
The role is available now. If this seems like the next step in your career and you think you can be a positive role model for these children, please apply, and I look forward to hearing from you!
