We are seeking an enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our caring team at a dynamic mainstream secondary school in Clitheroe, Lancashire. Role Overview: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students requiring additional social, emotional, and behavioural support. You’ll assist classroom teachers in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, work with individual students or small groups to boost their confidence and provide guidance to help them manage their emotions and behaviour in a school setting. Key Responsibilities: Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs. Assisting the classroom teacher in implementing strategies to support student engagement and emotional well-being. Creating a safe, supportive, and structured environment that promotes positive interactions. Building trusting relationships with students to help them develop social skills and resilience. Liaising with teachers, parents, and support staff to track and support each student's progress. Promoting a culture of inclusion and respect in line with the school's values. About You: Experience : Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH needs in a school or care setting is preferred. Skills : Strong communication and listening skills, with a compassionate and patient approach. Knowledge : Understanding of social, emotional, and behavioural challenges and effective techniques to support SEMH needs. Qualifications : Relevant qualifications in education, mental health support, or youth work are advantageous, though passion and experience are highly valued.
