3 days per week (22.5hrs). Working days Monday to Friday between 8am and 4.30pm or 8.30am to 5pm, all year round.

Purpose of Position
The Payroll & HR Administrator will work closely with the HR Manager to assist with the day-to-day functioning of the Finance Department (known as the Bursary) and HR Departments.
The successful candidate will be required to administer the School’s outsourced payroll, employee benefits and pension schemes for a team of approximately 175 school staff. Experience in a school setting would be an advantage.
Job Specification
Payroll / Bursary Duties will include:
* Processing a timely monthly payroll, including amendments, new starters, leavers, contract changes, etc.
* Collating and inputting monthly payroll data including timesheets and expenses claims.
* Preparing and applying maternity and paternity leave calculations.
* Processing transactions relating to salary sacrifice schemes.
* Processing incremental pay increases.
* Dealing with enquiries from employees, management and external contacts in person, by telephone or in writing.
* Reconciling all payroll transactions to the nominal ledger.
* Maintaining up to date and comprehensive guidance notes on payroll procedures.
* Ensuring that robust payroll records are maintained and working with auditors as required.
HR Duties will include:
* Assisting the HR Manager to process all new starters and leavers including production of employment contracts, reference requests, leaver letters and holiday payments.
* Processing paperwork associated with employment changes and variations to contracts, as and when required.
* Assisting in the administration of staff ‘right-to-work' documents.
* Creating and maintaining employee benefit and EAP information.
* Assisting with any recruitment administration, including employment applications and ensuring safer recruitment practices are met.
* Supporting the HR Manager with additional HR administration requirements.
Other
* To familiarise and adhere to child protection and health & safety protocols together with other policies and codes of conduct expected of all staff.
* To participate in appropriate training and professional development where necessary.
* To adhere to current health and safety protocols.
* Support the aims and ethos of the School.

Person Specification
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate from their application, at interview or from their references, the following:
* A good general level of education plus appropriate further or higher education.
* Knowledge of basic employment law and HR / Payroll practices would be advantageous.
* Awareness and understanding of the demands of working in a School and also as part of a small team.
* The ability to work independently, show initiative and enjoy challenges.
* The appointment will be dependent upon a satisfactory PVG check from Disclosure Scotland, the receipt of satisfactory references and confirmation of Right to Work in the UK.

The School
Albyn School is an independent, coeducational day school. With around 770 pupils and 175 staff, it comprises three sections: a Nursery for around 120 children aged 2-5, a Lower School for around 290 pupils aged 5-12 and an Upper School of around 360 pupils aged 12-18.
