We have a great opportunity for a Support Worker to join us and support our client who is 20 years old living in Bridgewater, Somerset area.
About Our Client:
Our Client is 20 years old and undertakes a range of activities at home and in the community. Adores all things sports related and loves music and computer games. Our client would love the support worker to enjoy these things too.
Our client has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair full time. Assistance is needed with all aspects of personal care and daily living activities, including eating and drinking due to limited upper limb function. Our client has a PEG for top-up feeding and enjoys chatting and interacting, although speech patterns can be affected by cerebral palsy. A communication aid is used for some activities, but verbal speech is preferred.
Our client has a fully adapted property and a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
You need to have worked with individuals with similar needs before and possess a full driving licence.
You will help our client access desired activities at home and in the community, including local groups, sports, comedy, and music events. Support for therapy and social and leisure activities is also required. You will work alongside one support worker and one team leader, as we are looking to expand the care team to provide 24/7 support.
What you'll be working:
Support Worker (Full time, part time, Bank, job share)
£16.00 per hour weekdays to £17.50 per hour weekends
£11.44 per hour for sleeping night shifts
Typical shifts include:
9am to 11pm, 9 hours sleep in rate, 8am to 6pm
8pm to 11pm, 9 hours sleep in rate, 8am to 6pm
9am to 8pm
9am to 6pm
Additional hours may be available to cover holidays/sickness and activities requiring double ups.
What you'll be doing:
Some of the main roles and responsibilities:
* Ensure consistency of approach with the client in accordance with advised approaches to care and emerging therapy aims.
* Liaise with and support the family as required.
* Follow the Service User Plan as documented for the client.
* Participate in manual handling procedures as specified for the client.
* Ensure opportunities for participation in activities identified by the client and their parents while achieving a balance between work, rest, and play.
* Deliver programmes of educational, social, and therapeutic development as directed by relevant professionals and the client's parents.
* Provide opportunities for the client to follow therapeutic guidelines and be trained in all relevant skills as identified by the case manager in liaison with other professionals.

What you'll have:
At a minimum, applicants will be expected to have some experience of caring for people with physical or learning disabilities.
Applicants with an NVQ (or equivalent) in care are desirable.
Applicants must have a full driving licence.
Must be able to commute to Bridgewater, Somerset.
This position requires a fully enhanced disclosure request from the DBS, which the employer will obtain and fund on your behalf. You will also be required to register with the DBS Update Service.
