Mechanical Project & Design Engineer
We are recruiting for an experienced Project & Design Engineer to work for our client who are located in between Holmfirth and Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
THE DUTIES:
1. Design and deliver mechanical vehicle builds, systems and schematics utilising either 2D AutoCAD or 3D Solid Works software.
2. Managing, co-ordinating and delivering technically challenging design projects from conception through to delivery of finished vehicle builds, within budget on schedule and to the desired quality and in accordance with business and customer constraints.
3. Work closely with all departments to ensure products are designed for manufacture.
4. Scheduling of design tasks to maximise manufacturing output, maintain efficiencies and reduce costs, in accordance with multiple project schedules.
5. Identify and implement continuous process improvements to optimise design and manufacturing efficiencies, ensuring high quality components are produced with minimum waste.
6. Management and verification of all drawings, revisions and BOM's to support purchasing, engineering and manufacturing functions.
7. Ensure schedules are understood and workload in the design and manufacturing departments are managed to meet the business priorities and objectives.
8. Undertake and review mechanical design & design risk assessments to meet all legislative, business and customers requirements and standards.
9. Ensure appropriate targets and time scales are monitored reported on and achieved in line with Business requirements.
10. Manage Design quality work checks to ensure the information required meets quality standards and are aligned with company quality procedures.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCES & SKILLS:
1. Excellent leadership and management skills and being equipped with strong and effective communication, interpersonal & listening skills.
2. Be competent in all technical aspects of mechanical design and development of special purpose machinery (ideally gained within a similar industry or environment).
3. Ability to design and deliver concise engineering drawings and ensure implementation according to tolerances, finish, and weld specification.
4. Excellent time management and organisational skills, being able to prioritise requirements to meet differing demands.
5. Possess a good understanding of the principles of mechanical engineering practice gained within a similar manufacturing environment.
6. Experience in delivering solutions to technical issues.
7. The desire to deliver a high level of quality and customer service and encourage others.
8. Experience of technical projects including working to tight timescales and meeting project milestones throughout the project life cycle.
9. A supportive and encouraging approach to mentoring and developing less experienced members of the team.
10. Strong problem-solving skills but with the ability to request assistance and information when necessary.
11. Strong IT and analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to write detailed technical reports.
Qualifications:
1. Autodesk and or Solid Works qualification/experience.
2. 5 plus years' experience in a relevant production or engineering discipline.
THE HOURS:
Working on days.
THE PAY:
You will earn an annual salary of £35-£50K depending on experience.
