We’re looking for Prison Support Officers(OSOs) to join our team at HMP Ashfield. You’ll play a vital rolehelping prison operations runsmoothly.
What does the jobinvolve?
You’ll report to the Custodial OperationsManager, supporting with various duties. You’ll be entrustedto:
* carry out duties in the control room,monitoring CCTV and radio systems, alerting staff when alarms areraised and completing all necessarypaperwork
* conduct routine net test calls and cell callchecks
* work in the Gatehouse, giving access to bothvisitors and staff, and searching vehicles and staff whenrequired
* assist with escorting vehicles around theestablishment
* allocate Body Worn Video Cameras (BMVCs) andbe responsible for theequipment
* support with contingencyplanning
* plus other operational tasks asneeded
What we’re lookingfor
* Essential: GCSEs in Mathsand English (Grade C or above) or equivalent, plus good ITskills
* Desirable: Experience ina secure environment (e.g., prison service), knowledge of securityprocedures, and proficiency in MicrosoftOffice
* Skills: Strongorganisation, analytical thinking, and attention to detail –reading and writing skills are important for report writing andinterpretingdata
* Team player: Excellentcommunication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to workcollaboratively with staff, visitors, andprisoners
* Trust and discretion:This role involves handling sensitive information withprofessionalism
* Other requirements: Afull driving licence and flexibility to work shifts, which mayincludenights
