We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced CBT therapist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team within Cannock IMHT, serving the needs of adults with secondary care level mental health difficulties in the community.
The successful candidate will benefit from supervision from a BABCP registered CBT therapist, as well as enjoying a close relationship with the rest of the IMHT psychology team, consisting of an 8c Consultant psychologist, an 8b Principal psychologist, an Assistant Psychologist, and two CAPS workers.
The successful candidate will be supported to engage in regular CPD, with opportunities for further training and development and specialist supervision in EMDR if required.
Main duties of the job
Direct Clinical Work:
1. Working flexibly and creatively with a dynamic caseload offering assessments, developing and sharing CBT formulations, and delivering CBT therapy.
2. Contributing towards the development, delivery, and evaluation of group interventions.
Indirect Clinical Work:
1. Working alongside as an integral member of the MDT to deliver joint work and to promote psychological thinking and approaches and contribute to care plans.

We are an integrated team made up of a range of professionals who are passionate about implementing psychologically informed care through shared goals and initiatives. Psychology is embedded in the team through Psychologists, Psychological Therapists, Clinical Associates in Psychology and Assistant Psychologists to deliver individual and group therapies, psychoeducation groups and stabilisation skills. We also support the team to deliver psychologically informed care through consultation, training, supervision and service development. As the psychological professionals in the team we work together closely, this includes regular psychology meetings to offer shared reflective space and opportunities for learning and development. Psychologists are part of the leadership both in the service and the wider Trust. Qualifications
Essential
* Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Adults OR A recorded/registered qualification in one of the following - nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or a psychological therapy plus further training which confers eligibility to apply for BABCP Accreditation.
* Significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competencies as required.
* Full accreditation with a recognised professional body (e.g. BABCP/UKCP/BACP).
Experience
Essential
* Demonstrable experience of working in Mental Health Services.
* Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets within local and national objectives.
* Ability to manage own caseload and time.
* Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups.
Desirable
* Relevant experience in secondary care setting treating complex and severe mental health disorders.
* Relevant experience of being keyworker in secondary care setting for individuals with complex and severe mental health disorders.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
* Full range of skills and competencies as laid out in the competence framework for CBT (Roth and Pilling 2007). Including knowledge of basic CBT principles, ability to structure sessions, guided discovery and Socratic questioning, problem specific competencies and meta competencies.
* Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
* Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health / benefits & employment systems.
* Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems.
Desirable
* Trained in provision of supervision for CBT.
* Accredited with a professional psychological therapy organisation.
* Experience of working with severe and enduring mental illness e.g. Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Personality Disorder.
