Delivering Results/Functional Responsibilities To work closely with the Head of School and stakeholders to: Deliver specialty specific curriculum advice to trainees, trainers, Local Education Providers, etc. Support recruitment to training posts and programmes. Contribute to the organisation, development and evaluation of specialty training teaching such that learners within the programme are supported to fulfil their full potential. Support the use of clinical skills training and simulation (where appropriate/applicable), stressing the importance of teamwork and human factors. Actively engaging in processes pertinent to specialty training including: management of rotations, out of programme management, less than full-time training, inter-deanery and inter-programme transfer. Support, monitor and enable trainee progression through o the early identification of trainees requiring additional support and escalation as required and referral to appropriate services. o engagement with assessment processes and delivery of ARCPs. o assisting with trainee support and remediation. Contribute to meeting Code of Practice requirements, ensuring that rotational information is available to meet deadlines, and to support information sharing to track exceptions. Facilitate career advice or be able to provide access to career management skills or provision. Quality and Safety Emphasise the importance and promote the development of a quality learning environment for all learners. Support the implementation and delivery of the NHSE Quality Framework across all placements. Professional Responsibilities To attend such meetings as advised, within NHSE Local Office / School structure. To undertake professional development identified for the role (mandatory training, attendance at required training days, on-line e-learning packages, etc.). To actively engage in appraisal pertinent to the role. To actively contribute to workstreams/programmes as may be required (and agreed) to assist national /local office/School delivery of strategy. To adapt to changes including undertaking other such duties as are required to meet the needs and requirements of NHSE. Management and Leadership To work with the School in: Providing effective local leadership, contributing to the strategic development of NHSE. Contributing to the vision of the local NHS and enhancement of patient care by providing leadership and direction with respect to the quality of education and training. Advocating and providing a positive role model on behalf of NHSE, by promoting leadership that inspires, motivates and empowers all staff, and demonstrating the values of the NHS. Working locally with key groups and stakeholders, to attend and host events across the region as required / agreed, to develop key liaisons and to ensure effective local engagement and responsiveness in line with the culture of NHSE. Identifying opportunities for different healthcare professions to work more effectively together through education and training. Working with providers and others to support and capture innovation locally and ensure national and local conversations develop best practice. Setting Direction and Service Improvement To advise and support the School in educational and workforce development elements, including: Professional development of the educational faculty To support compliance with requirements for the supervision and support for trainees and learners. To identify learning needs and support provision of educational appraisal, educator development and resource for faculty, trainees and learners. To create and promote shared learning opportunities to increase effective inter-professional education Intelligence Support/Provision To ensure local intelligence processes inform quality management processes. To engage with information systems (trainee database, post establishments). Strategic Workforce Development and Commissioning To engage with commissioning processes, where required, to support achievement of curriculum competencies. To support the development of an integrated educational strategy. To advise the School on commissioning and decommissioning placements /activities Finance To ensure compliance with procurement requirements
