Teaching Assistant for Visually Impaired
John F Kennedy Catholic School currently has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated practitioner to join the team as a Teaching Assistant for Visually Impaired, supporting teaching staff with responsibility for the development and educational provision of learners.
Job Overview
This contract is fixed term as the post is linked to a named student. The contract will end on an agreed expiry date, or earlier should the named student leave the school, or funding is removed.
You’ll be responsible for assisting with planning, preparation and delivery of lesson provision, both on a whole-class and individual basis, preparing resources to support learning activities as well as ensuring pupils are supported pastorally. You’ll contribute to evaluating student progress and provide feedback to the class teacher to ensure all students’ learning needs are being met.
Job Requirements
1. A minimum of 3 GCSEs at C grade or above, including English and Maths
2. Experience of class supervision and assisting with lesson provision to achieve positive learning outcomes
3. Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in tandem with teaching staff
4. Ability to be empathetic and understanding to the needs of students
