Edinburgh Uni Thistle Head Coach (Volunteer) Role Description
EUWAFC and Boroughmuir Thistle FC are seeking a volunteer Head Coach for our newest team, Edinburgh Uni Thistle, which competes in the SWFL East League. We are looking for an enthusiastic, approachable, and committed coach to organise and lead the delivery of sessions for a dedicated group of players, as the team pursues success in its second season.
Edinburgh University Women’s Association Football Club (EUWAFC) and Boroughmuir Thistle FC formed a partnership in 2021 and together we pride ourselves on being the best women’s football set-up in Scotland. EUWAFC have five teams competing within the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) leagues and Boroughmuir Thistle have opportunities from age 5 through adult football and elite SWPL2 level. Edinburgh Uni Thistle is a joint team between these two clubs to extend the player pathway further and allow players of all abilities and ages within women’s football to continue their development in the sport.
We have access to world-class training and playing facilities with multiple 3G, grass, and 5-aside pitches at Peffermill Playing Fields.

Requirements for role:
* Previous experience of planning and delivering a coaching plan. Ability to attend evening training sessions on Friday evenings and matches on Sundays.
* Support both clubs in creating an inclusive environment.
* Approachable with effective communication skills and a positive attitude that will extend to the rest of the team and fellow EUWAFC coaches.
* Be inclusive and support our ethos and commitment to football being for all.
* UEFA C License.
* Experience of coaching women’s football.
Key responsibilities:
* Prepare for and lead training sessions and match preparation.
* Manage the team during league matches.
* Evaluate individual/group performance and identify key development areas.
* Adjust coaching techniques based on the strengths and weaknesses of both players and opponents.
* Work with and learn from Performance Coaches and enthusiastic, qualified coaches from both EUWAFC and BTFC to advance your learning.
* Be part of an exciting, fast-growing partnership between two excellent clubs.
* Receive financial assistance with coach education courses from EUWAFC and Sports Union, allowing you to coach the team and complete coaching badges in the process.
* Coaching Kit provided.
* Access to Edinburgh University Sports Union’s Coaching and Volunteering Academy (CPD sessions, nutrition, concussion workshops, etc.).
* Access to student-priced Pleasance gym membership.
