Nexus is looking to appoint an Engineering Apprentice within the Plant and Distribution team.
As part of this 3 year and 3-month apprentice programme, you’ll join the heartbeat of our metro system and play a crucial role in maintaining the infrastructure that connects our community.
The role will involve assisting with the maintenance, repair and technical fault diagnosis of a wide range of Electrical and Mechanical equipment across 60 metro stations, trackside locations, bus interchanges and offices. This can include Electrical and Mechanical plant, HV systems, lifts and escalators. The role is varied, and you will come across challenges, and under guidance, will approach with a problem-solving attitude in order to keep our passengers moving. You will work towards a Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician qualification as well as specific in-house electrical and mechanical training. This is a unique opportunity to gain a strong foundation of electrical and mechanical knowledge. Whilst precise details are to be confirmed, it is expected that the successful candidate will study on day release to college whilst working the remaining working days gaining practical hands-on experience in a practical environment. The role is predominantly site-based to maximise the learning opportunities. Whilst this may entail working in all-weathers you will be provided with the relevant attire to work comfortably and safely.
The final 3 months of apprenticeship will consist of completing an End Point Assessment (EPA), successful completion of all elements of the apprenticeship standard will result in the awarding of a certificate of completion.
