About the Role
As the Senior Manager, ESG Reporting & Policy, you will be at the forefront of managing our Group’s ESG and Modern Slavery disclosures. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure compliance with both voluntary and mandatory reporting obligations, while effectively communicating our ESG performance and the management of ESG risks and opportunities.
In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in building long-term ESG reporting processes and capabilities. We are seeking an individual with an understanding of ESG and financial reporting concepts, who can seamlessly communicate and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
Your work will be conducted against a backdrop of heightened scrutiny from social, governmental, investor, and customer perspectives. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to our purpose in an evolving regulatory landscape.

What will your day look like?
As the Senior Manager, ESG Reporting & Policy, your day will be dynamic and impactful. You will:
* Drive and oversee the production of ESG and Modern Slavery reports, focusing on Social and Governance pillars, ensuring compliance with both voluntary and mandatory standards.
* Engage and direct inputs from various ANZ functions and business units, including Suncorp Bank and New Zealand, providing guidance and constructive challenge.
* Review and approve content, liaising with ANZ functions and business units on feedback from executive management and Board.
* Ensure consistency of ESG reporting inputs into materials for Finance, Investor Relations, and Corporate Governance teams and monitor and report performance against the bank’s ESG targets.
* Collaborate closely with Group Finance and the Lead, ESG Reporting and Policy to develop ESG reporting policies and enhance the ESG governance control framework.
* Advise senior management on ESG reporting matters, draft papers for the Board and executive management and review and oversee responses to ESG disclosure enquiries.
* Oversee governance of ESG rating agency responses and engagement.
* Provide strategic advice and tactical support to business stakeholders and the broader ESG disclosures team.
* Monitor developments in new and evolving ESG reporting frameworks, assessing their impact on ANZ.
* Manage and mentor direct reports, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:
* Record of achievement in a like or similar role, with experience managing ESG reporting for an ASX-listed organisation.
* Strong understanding of national and international ESG reporting and accounting frameworks such as Global Reporting Initiative, Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards, International Sustainability Standard Board, United Nations Global Compact.
* Excellent analytical, writing and communications skills, including the ability to understand and simplify complex matters.
* Strong relationship and networking skills to engage internal and external stakeholders in Group-wide ESG performance reporting and communication.
* Extensive experience developing and managing project and stakeholder plans and schedules to manage time, cost and resource allocation.
* Demonstrated ability to identify working relationships within and across teams, and promote the effective development of these relationships.
* A genuine people leader who takes an always learning and hands-on approach, and can lead through change.
* Some additional ‘nice to have’ skills for this role include:
* Legal, financial, risk or regulatory reporting experience.
* Experience and engagement with industry and reporting bodies as it relates to ESG reporting.
* Experience in exercising initiative, sound judgement and strong decision making in a high-profile complex environment.
* Good experience in delivery (delivering to a plan while considering sometimes multiple upstream and downstream dependencies).
* Demonstrated resilience with proven ability to lead through uncertainty, the unexpected and competing priorities.
* Enjoy working in a fast-paced, customer centric and collaborative team environment.
* Banking and financial sector experience.
* Experience working with senior executives.
