We invite applications for a Senior Clinical or Counselling Psychologist for Salford adult inpatient services based at Meadowbrook Unit. We are recruiting a full-time 8a or band 7-8a preceptorship Clinical or Counselling Psychologist. We welcome applications from Trainee Clinical Psychologists who are due to qualify in 2024.
Your role will include a mix of direct and indirect work, supporting teams to develop formulations, contributing to staff training, and supervising the delivery of brief psychological interventions. Direct work will include psychological assessments, formulations, and interventions, both individually and in group settings.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will provide a clinical psychology service to 3 adult acute wards and 1 psychiatric intensive care unit in Salford. You will be supported by the principal inpatient Clinical Psychologist, Senior Clinical Psychologist, and Assistant Psychologists to deliver high-quality clinical psychology services. You will ensure that the psychological needs of service users and staff are understood and met.

Person specification
Education and qualifications
* Post-graduate doctorate in clinical or counselling psychology, accredited by the BPS.
* Eligibility to register as a practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
* Further post-qualification training in a specific therapeutic modality.
* Completion of clinical supervisor training.
Experience
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment across various care settings.
* Experience with moderate to severe mental health problems.
* Experience in risk assessment and formulation.
* Experience in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Experience in providing supervision and training.
* Experience in an inpatient setting.
* Experience in managing demand for psychological services.
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care.
Knowledge
* Up-to-date knowledge of severe and enduring mental health problems.
* Knowledge of at least two specialized psychological therapies.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation.
* Evidence of post-qualification CPD.
Skills
* Ability to engage with service users and provide appropriate psychological support.
* Skills in providing consultation.
* Effective communication skills.
* Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
* Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
