About The Role
We are looking for a London-based junior press officer to join the Global External Communications Team. This is a busy and visible role and suitable candidates will be keen to support the team and develop their media skills in a dynamic in-house environment. The role is hybrid, with 2-days per week in the office at London Bankside. The role will report to a Senior Communications Manager who is accountable for our press office and global issues management.
The External Communications Team is accountable for telling the Haleon story relating to our London listing, global presence and our strategic progress on earned channels. The team manages all media engagement and works with our most senior executives and international colleagues. Team members are creative, energetic and keen to embrace new practices to tell our stories.
Key Responsibilities
1. Work alongside the Global External Communications Team across all aspects of our communications plan, including proactive storytelling, financial communications and Results announcements.
2. Play a key part of our reactive press office, help to track issues and develop issues preparedness materials and support crisis communications responses.
3. Take ownership of our media monitoring and other core press office tools and develop our campaign analysis capabilities.
4. Provide the day-to-day logistical support and coordination for the External Communications team.
5. Be a point of coordination between the different teams within the wider Global Corporate Affairs function (Internal Communications, Digital Content and Brand).
Experience and Skills
1. Practical experience gained either in a communications agency or in-house press office environment.
2. Enthusiastic about media and external communications in a listed business, as well as the foundational tasks that keep a busy comms team moving.
3. Highly motivated with a proactive and adaptable approach.
4. Excellent writing, attention to detail and organisational skills. Proficiency in English.
5. Creative and collaborative team player, used to working across multiple projects at once and embracing new ways of working.
6. A keen interest in and desire to learn more about the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and/or health industries.
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
