Head Teacher – new specialist school
Location: Birmingham City Centre
Start date: September 2025
Futures Matter Education Ltd is opening a brand-new independent school, providing specialist education for students aged 11 to 16 years, with a range of special educational needs (SEN), difficulties and talents.
The school will operate from one site initially, providing an academic, vocational and work-related curriculum. The environment has a range of specialist learning areas including for motor vehicle maintenance, catering, painting and decorating and a range of other practical and enterprise skills.
With the right resources we know we will help students to succeed. We already have a fantastic school building in the heart of Birmingham, but we know the best resources of all will be you and our staff team.
We are looking for an experienced and inspirational leader who will be passionate about leading an effective school. You will help us to develop our school, ensuring students have a positive experience of education, securing great career and lifelong outcomes. You will have a strong desire to progress your career with us, helping expand our future education offer. This role will bring a lot of challenges and rewards!
Requirements for this role
1. An inspirational and successful leader in a similar setting. Head Teacher experience preferred.
2. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ relevant teaching qualifications essential. NPQH desirable.
3. Sound understanding and experience of SEN, including the broad range of diagnoses and related challenges; including autism, social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
4. Able to build excellent relationships with all key stakeholders, including local authorities.
5. Knowledge of the Independent School Standards and recent Ofsted inspection experience.
6. Able to ensure the curriculum model remains exciting, relevant and effective.
7. Strong inspirational leader to act as a positive role model for students and staff.
8. Passionate about high standards; unafraid to challenge underperformance to secure the best.
9. Effective budget management; able to ensure cost efficiency and best use of resources.
Terms and Conditions
1. Contract: permanent, full-time Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
2. 10 weeks’ annual leave, during school holidays.
3. Company pension.
4. Salary: up to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus performance bonus.
