The vulnerable young people in our care can be challenging with a wide range of social and emotional complex needs. This is an environment that calls for high standards of social care and service delivery to provide a secure and stable environment for young people to develop their life skills and address the behaviours that have led them into custody. Oakhill Secure Training Centre works closely with the Youth Custody Services to ensure that its regimes and designs reflect best practice in residential care to prevent offending. We are looking for an experienced Resettlement Caseworker (SCO) to temporarily join our Resettlement team at Oakhill Secure Training Centre to provide maternity cover. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying the risks and needs of children within the Secure Setting. Supporting children by coordinating intervention planning which promotes positive outcomes for children. The successful candidate will be required to hold Custody Officer badge status. Key Responsibilities: Manage a caseload of children in line with Youth Justice Services Case Management Guidance with the aim to resettle children into the community or to an alternative placement. Chair and minute Review Meetings with the child, families and professionals to agree to and coordinate a Sentence or Remand Plan focusing on the Resettlement Pathways. Complete regular Risk Assessments and ensure these are communicated effectively with all stakeholders. Work with key professionals in the community to ensure that accommodation, education and a continuation of care is in place ready for release. To support, guide and assist children with their welfare, ensuring they have the right services in place to meet their holistic needs and ensure that any safeguarding concerns are identified, managed and addressed whilst in custody. Deliver interventions with young people to help change their behaviours and support them to desist from offending. Support the Residential Units with direct work with children so that they acquire personal knowledge of children that will facilitate their participation in the review process. Monitor the progress of young people during and after release by contact with external agencies so that records can be kept on their progress to demonstrate the effectiveness of the STC. Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role. The Ideal Candidate: You must hold a Professional Qualification in a relevant subject: Psychology Degree, Sociology Degree, Criminology Degree or Foundation Degree in Youth Justice and have the ability to use Google Docs, Sheets & Email. A Social Work qualification and experience within a residential child-care environment or the Secure Estate would be desirable but isnt essential. At G4S, we invest heavily in our people.
