Route Controller - Birmingham
CrossCountry Trains are looking for a Route Controller to work as part of our control team, managing our train services within a designated region, responding to delays and service disruption in real time and ensuring minimal disruption to our customers.

Your role within the team will also involve liaising with on-train colleagues, Network Rail and other Train Operating Companies to ensure delivery of the timetabled train plan.
This role does involve working shift patterns which could cover mornings, afternoon and nights and weekend working.
The role will include:
* Proactively monitoring train running within your geographical area of responsibility.
* Identify and assess the impact of train service disruption.
* Implement plans to tackle service disruption and resource shortage – making the best use of the available infrastructure, rolling stock and train crew.
* Accurately and promptly communicate all details relating to changes to the daily plan to colleagues within the control team, on-train crews and with the appropriate Network Rail Route(s)
* Log events that occur whilst on shift in to the daily company log, incorporating business issues, incidents, customer care, service monitoring, contractual issues and investigation of incidents to conclusion.
* Participate in CrossCountry and Network Rail incident learning review and table-top exercises.
* Ensure daily records of train formations along with changes to on train facilities and orientation catering are recorded and conveyed to relevant parties in good time.
* Keeping the company Resource Management System up-to-date with changes to train schedules, service plans and resource deployment for all train services and resources under your control.
To succeed in this role you will need to demonstrate:
* A strong customer focus and capability to work outside traditional routines.
* Wide experience in passenger train operations.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Great interpersonal skills and the ability to integrate the activities of a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong IT Systems experience to ideally include TRUST, CCF, Datasys Log and Integrale.
Please note this is a safety critical role and will require the successful candidate to undertake a medical, including drug and alcohol testing.
