Maintenance Technician
Our client, a market leader in the design, development, manufacture, and supply of Stainless-Steel containment storage solutions, is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join their team. This is a full-time, permanent position, based in Eye, Diss.
Duties and Key Responsibilities:
1. To contribute to a progressive departmental attitude towards Health & Safety through personal conduct and as part of the Maintenance team.
2. To liaise with all plant supervision in order to ensure the smooth running of the facility and to provide a timely response in the event of breakdowns.
3. To diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and carry out repairs on machines throughout the plant.
Essential Skills & Personal Attributes
1. Good administrative skills and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
2. Ability to work using your initiative to a high standard with excellent attention to detail whilst meeting deadlines.
3. Open style and a team player.
4. Excellent leadership and management skills.
Work Experience Requirements
1. A qualified multi-skilled technician with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, ideally in a medium or heavy engineering environment with strong electrical competency.
2. Welding and fabrication skills would be an advantage although not essential.
3. This role will include both mechanical and electrical maintenance work and will sometimes entail you being the single technician on site, so excellent fault finding abilities and self-motivation are essential.
Educational Requirements
1. Recognised apprenticeship/HNC/HND in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.
General Responsibilities
1. To be a member of the Company Fire Team and be aware of the Fire Safety and Evacuation Procedures.
2. To support all aspects of continuous improvement.
3. To understand and be able to carry out the plant start-up and shutdown procedure.
4. To carry out checks and tests on plant equipment as required by the PPM Schedule.
5. To ensure that all work is recorded on the Planned Maintenance System.
6. To read, understand and work to machine manufacturers’ handbook instructions and drawings.
7. To undertake any training that is required to enhance or to keep your work skills up to date.
8. To assist in the training of colleagues from other departments as required.
9. To be flexible and, when needed, available for callout on emergency plant breakdown and absence cover. This may also mean working overtime.
10. To be available to work through plant shutdown on maintenance tasks or continuous improvement projects.
11. To work to the Company’s ISO 9001 Procedures and Work Instructions.
12. To promote excellence in terms of Safety and Attitude, inspiring others through personal conduct and setting of standards.
13. To support a progressive departmental attitude towards Health & Safety.
14. The Health & Safety of yourself and others in your area of control.

1. Contributory pension scheme, with the employee contributing 4% of earnings and the Company contributing 4% of earnings. Company contributions increase to 6% after 5 years’ service and 7% after 10 years’ service.
