Despatch Team Leader - Hereford Working Hours 0700-1900/1900-0700 3 on 2 off rotating shifts Purpose of the role: Manage the Despatch team to deliver the departmental KPI’s using Continuous Improvement methodologies and application of the company values ensuring policies and standards are safely met. Your key responsibilities as Despatch Team Leader will include: Organise and motivate the team to deliver the day to day operational requirements of the department Undertake 121’s with team members in line with the agreed business timelines Working with the Despatch Shift Manager and training department to develop a high performing and engaged team that deliver to agreed quality & safety standards Escalate issues in a timely manner to key stakeholders to include Production Schedulers / Transport / Sales and Despatch Shift Manager Support the root cause analysis of all incidents either food or people related to enable the implementation of effective countermeasures Responsible for effective and accurate stock control Deputise for the Despatch Shift Manager when required Consistent application of the Company’s procedures relating to absence and conduct, ensuring issues are dealt with quickly, effectively and fairly Effectively manage the shift resources to meet the day to day priorities Complete TMS for all weekly paid staff Approve holidays within the current restrictions and update calendar and TMS accordingly, arrange overtime or cover with agencies when appropriate Provide regular updates on shift progress through the escalation processes Management of the bay procedures to ensure safety and adherence to SOP’s Follow the defect procedure for MHE / scan guns Understand, manage and adhere to the maintenance of good GMP Understand, manage and adhere to health and safety procedures, encouraging safe work behaviours Understand, manage and adhere to food hygiene procedures To comply with and promote all Avara Foods policies and procedures Other duties within the general scope of the post may be required from time to time What we are looking for: Essential: Experience of coaching others to succeed Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across departments and levels Proven delegation skills Desire to challenge and improve current GMP’s Ability to develop good working relationships with all staff and managers Ability to be able to assess and co-ordinate training requirements for new and existing team members Computer literate Functional skills English and Maths Entry Level 3 Demonstrate and promote the Company Vision and Values Desirable: Experienced MHE operator Relevant ILM accreditation at Level 2 or desire to achieve within the role Experience in organisation of resources to meet scheduled requirements Understanding of computerised warehousing systems Experience of coaching and developing others A proven track recording in ensuring all aspects of team management are dealt with in an effective, consistent and fair manner Experience of warehouse management systems including setting up loads and management of the WMS system to help improve operational efficiencies Experience in conducting investigations, return to works, absence review meetings and disciplinary processes Knowledge of the Time Management System Experience of using continuous improvement and lean tools or a desire to develop in these areas Due to Bird Welfare, it is essential that you do not own any Avian Pets, Poultry or Porcine.
