GET AN IMPRESSION OF THE ROLE AND THE TEAM
The Fleet Operations Manager leads operations across multiple cities, ensuring optimal vehicle availability and performance. This role oversees teams, fleet logistics, warehouses, and charging infrastructure to meet consumer demand. By driving efficiency, optimizing KPIs, and making data-driven decisions, the manager balances cost reduction with revenue growth, playing a key role in scaling the business sustainably. The manager works closely with their team of Supervisors in each location, as well as with the General Manager and other regional Fleet or City Managers across the UK.
THE ROLE AND YOUR IMPACT
Team Leadership & Operational Management
* Recruit, train, and lead Supervisors, setting clear KPIs within broader company goals and local market needs.
* Lead and develop the operational team to meet KPIs, manage staffing levels, and oversee performance, coaching, and any necessary disciplinary actions.
* Manage staffing levels to meet operational needs.
* Oversee third-party logistics (3PLs) providers and field teams including Leads and Street Mechanics.
* Ensure compliance with safety protocols, conduct regular audits, and implement continuous improvements to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
* Maintain warehouse and charging infrastructure reliability.
Data-Driven Strategy & Performance Optimisation
* Leverage data to optimise fleet availability and vehicle distribution.
* Align operations with city-specific demand and forecast usage patterns.
* Minimise downtime and improve user experience through performance tracking.
* Use tools like Tableau and Excel to identify performance trends and areas for improvement.
Stakeholder & Compliance Management
* Liaise with local authorities, businesses, and city councils for regulatory compliance.
* Act as the key contact for operational inquiries and challenges.
* Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control for operational expenses.
* Drive continuous improvement by implementing best practices and innovations.
* Lead operational improvement projects and collaborate across departments.
YOU’LL FIT GREAT WITH THESE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
* Degree or relevant experience in Business, Operations, or a related field.
* Background in operations management, ideally in fleet management, logistics, or urban mobility.
* Strong understanding of fleet-related KPIs, including utilisation rates, cost control, and team performance.
* Experience managing operations at a city or regional level, preferably in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
* Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong analytical abilities with the capacity to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
* Excellent leadership skills, with a focus on team development and performance management.
* Proficiency in operational and data analysis tools.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage multiple stakeholders.
Language & Location:
* Based in Milton Keynes or Essex, covering operations across Milton Keynes, Nottingham and Chelmsford, Essex.
