Sue Ross Recruitment are seeking a proactive and detail-orientated part-time bookkeeper on behalf of their client who supply a specialist product within the construction/ infrastructure sector. This is a varied and hands-on role working closely with the Commercial Manager and Chief Operating Officer. The ideal candidate will be experienced in day-to-day financial operations and able to take ownership of bookkeeping tasks with a high degree of accuracy and organisation. Key Responsibilities General Bookkeeping & Financial Administration Reconcile daily bank transactions Match supplier invoices to purchase orders and update records Process material orders and generate corresponding invoices from delivery notes Create and issue hire invoices Generate and manage purchase orders as needed Perform daily backups of Sage accounting data Schedule and pay supplier invoices (weekly, typically every Friday) Process monthly loan payments Handle and track foreign currency transactions Credit & Batch Control Reconcile credit card statements monthly and forward to accountants Complete month-end tasks including statement reconciliations and reporting Send customer statements and manage aged debtors Provide RBS bank statements, invoice discounting reports, and aged creditors to CFO, accountants, and invoice discounting providers Record invoice discounting costs and payments in Sage based on reports General Administration Order office stationery and supplies as required Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records Support internal reporting and budgeting processes Assist with ad-hoc financial and administrative duties Preferred Skills & Experience Proven experience using Sage 50 Accounts (Sage Line 50), and familiarity with other platforms like Xero Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 – particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Strong communication skills, both written and verbal High level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines In return, our client offers flexible start and finish times, giving you the freedom to structure your working hours (25 – 30 hours) across the week in a way that best suits your lifestyle.
