Long Term Futures are working closely with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) based in Islington, seeking a committed and experienced Behaviour Mentor with Learning Support Assistant duties to join their growing team. The school specialises in working with pupils who have been temporarily placed outside of mainstream education, with the goal of successful reintegration.
The provision offers a calm, well-structured environment with strong behaviour systems, a supportive team, and a headteacher who is fully committed to ongoing professional development and mentoring for all staff.
This is an ideal role for someone who has experience across both primary and secondary settings, as the provision caters for pupils across all Key Stages 1-4.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent 1:1 and small group behaviour support, both in and out of the classroom
Assist with learning interventions and curriculum access, adapting materials where necessary
Work closely with students to develop self-regulation, resilience and readiness for return to mainstream education
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and senior leaders to implement and monitor personalised behaviour plans
Act as a positive role model, promoting respectful behaviour and academic engagement
Record incidents and progress, providing clear and consistent communication to the wider support team
Support pupils with SEN, SEMH, and behavioural needs in both academic and pastoral aspects
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working in PRU, Alternative Provision, or SEMH settings
Strong background in supporting students with challenging behaviour and SEN
A calm, proactive and emotionally resilient approach
Able to engage pupils across a range of Key Stages and learning abilities
Confident in implementing de-escalation strategies and behaviour intervention plans
Qualifications or training in Team Teach, MAPA or similar behaviour support (desirable but not essential)
