Why is this role important:
Reporting to the Senior Director Produce Floral and Garden Procurement, the Procurement Director will be the subject matter expert dedicated to specific categories who will be relentlessly focused on securing the best cost for the enterprise.
What you'll do:
1. Meets with Category Director(s) in Merchandising to understand procurement needs and to identify and evaluate vendors based on a set of criteria/scorecard to select the best vendor.
2. Negotiates with vendors for cost to deliver category targets and budget alongside enterprise objectives.
3. Works with the Commodity Cost Review team to assess how vendor costs are tracking relative to market trends.
4. Initiates and owns the vendor Request for Proposal (RFP) process to source products that align to the category strategy and objective.
5. Shares information with the Merchandising and Control Brand teams on new products available and market trends.
6. Serves as first touchpoint with vendors for all cost and supply related troubleshooting.
7. Completes negotiations for new and existing products, collaborating with the Category Director in Merchandising.
8. Provides insight and input with new innovative sourcing and procurement opportunities tied to improving cost and category strategy.
9. Collaborates with category teams for quality related issues.
10. Participates in supplier facing enterprise initiatives.
11. Accountable for delivering budgeted cost targets.
12. Works with Procurement Support team members for new vendor setup and new items that require signoff in collaboration with the Central Data Management (CDM) team.
13. Collaborates with category teams to source new, sustainable products and vendors.
14. Collaborates with the Replenishment and Transport teams to resolve major inventory issues.
15. Facilitates where needed on major vendor stock supply chain issues.
16. Provides updates to the Senior Director of Procurement on strategies and initiatives.
17. Conducts and reviews post-mortem analysis on vendor management and procurement effectiveness.
18. Works with the Merchandising team to review performance metrics and determines specific actions required.
19. Guides, coaches, and motivates Procurement team members, and conducts performance reviews.
