Band 3 Occupational Therapy Assistant WTE, permanent contract
We are looking for a committed Band 3 Occupational Therapy support worker, to work as part of the Adult Mental Health, inpatient Occupational Therapy team at Mill View Hospital, Hove, East Sussex.
The post holder will be based on Caburn, our female acute admissions ward. You will be responsible for delivering both group and 1:1 therapeutic intervention to patients experiencing acute mental health difficulties. You will use specific psycho-social, occupational and sensory-based interventions to promote patients' recovery and wellbeing.
Successful candidates will have strong communication and people skills, a non-judgemental, person-centred, recovery approach and above all a compassionate, caring attitude and desire to make a difference. Skills and experience in running groups and working within a mental health setting is desirable.

Main duties of the job
To work under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist in thedelivery of clinical interventions using a range of technical andcreative skills to engage clients in occupational activities.
To monitor the client progress, taking account of their environmentand adjust clinical interventions accordingly with supervision from anOccupational Therapist.
Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, facilitate andparticipate in planned group work, individual activities and ongoingcontinuous assessment with supervision.

Job responsibilities
1. Contribute to occupational therapy assessments Activity of DailyLiving Assessments (ADL) and treatment plans under the guidanceof an Occupational Therapist.- Under supervision of an Occupational Therapist, provide a range ofactivities, instructing and guiding clients with more complex needs tosupport them in achieving identified occupational therapy goals, withsome supervision.
2. To carry out community/home visits as directed by an OccupationalTherapist and report on the outcome.
3. To actively promote service user driven interventions within arecovery approach.
4. Have a basic working knowledge of the medication prescribed for thepersons in their care. To include usual dosage, common side effectsand the need for any special monitoring. Any reported or observedside effects must be brought to the attention of the prescriber.
