Durham County Council is looking to recruit a new permanent full time Approved Mental Health Professional to work within the Core Countywide AMHP team based at Lanchester Road Hospital. The team operates across the County working days 8am-8pm and works in close partnership with colleagues in EDT to provide a robust 24 hour service. WHAT IS INVOLVED? The role involves working on a rota system Monday to Friday, being on duty three days a week to ensure that workers get accrued time owing in a timely fashion. Additional days are occasionally required to access mandatory training and subject to the needs of the service. Core AMHPs triage, plan, co-ordinate and undertake assessments under the Mental Health Act, working with people of all ages to consider alternatives to formal hospital admission or ensuring that admissions are undertaken with humanity and professionalism. The roles are challenging but rewarding and no two days are the same Durham County Council is committed to the development and consolidation of its AMHP service and supports a number of staff annually to complete AMHP training. As a member of the Core Team you would be expected to contribute to this training, including acting as a practice mentor. Ongoing refresher training is offered as part of a regional agreement, alongside which you would benefit from accessing learning and development opportunities from across the authority and partner agencies. It is expected that the successful candidate will have two years post qualifying experience in a Health or Social Care and Health Service settings together with working experience as an AMHP. Required Qualifications: Degree in Social Work or recognised equivalent, plus AMHP qualification Registration with Social Work England or be applying for registration If successful, you will be required to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Disclosure.
