Position: Welfare Officer
Permanent: 22.5 hours over 3 days
Salary: £18,000

Schools & Youth groups visit us throughout the year, with thousands of children and young people enjoying an unforgettable experience exploring the water on dinghies, paddleboards, kayaks, and more.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Welfare Officer to join our expanding welfare team.
We are looking to appoint someone who is motivated and focused to help support us with the implementation, delivery, and communication of our student welfare, safeguarding, and wellbeing activities. The ability to work under pressure and to provide emotional support for students is paramount to this role.
Key Purpose:
1. Acting as a point of contact and signposting for all student welfare and wellbeing queries, concerns, and issues.
2. To provide a supportive emotional base for all students on site.
3. To support students who are living away from home and for some living in another country for the first time.
4. Promote UKSA’s culture of mental health and wellbeing for all seafarers, including delivery of training.
5. To provide pastoral support to all students for the duration of their course and aftercare, and in certain circumstances prior to course start. This may include signposting and onward referrals.
6. Contribute to the development of support resources to provide additional guidance for seafaring students in relation to welfare, wellbeing, and health and link in with industry partners and leaders.
7. Be a designated Safeguarding Lead and maintain the relevant valid qualifications and keep up to date with current legislation and training.
The ability to work flexibly is essential as this role will include evening and weekend working.
